Characteristics of graphite electrode materials

Characteristics of graphite electrode materials

1.CNC has the advantages of fast processing speed, high cutability and easy dressing.

The machining speed of graphite is 3 to 5 times that of copper electrode, and the finishing speed is especially outstanding, and its strength is very high.High (50~90mm) and ultra-thin (0.2~0.5mm) electrodes are not easy to deform during machining. And in many cases, the product needs to have a good grain effect, which requires that the whole public electrode should be made as far as possible, and there are all kinds of hidden clear angles in the manufacture of the whole public electrode, because of the easy repair of graphite, this problem can be solved easily, and the number of electrodes is greatly reduced, but the copper electrode can not be done.

2.Rapid EDM forming, low thermal expansion and low loss.

Because the electrical conductivity of graphite is better than that of copper, its discharge speed is 35 times faster than that of copper. And it can withstand the discharge. It is more advantageous to withstand large current in EDM rough machining. At the same time, at the same volume, the weight of graphite is 5 times that of copper, which greatly reduces the load of EDM.It has great advantages for the production of large electrodes and integral public electricity. The sublimation temperature of graphite is 4200 , which is 3 times higher than that of copper (the sublimation temperature of copper is 1100 ).At high temperature, the deformation is very small (under the same electrical conditions, it is the same as that of copper.) it does not soften. The discharge energy can be transferred to the workpiece with high efficiency and low consumption.Because the strength of graphite is enhanced at high temperature, it can be effective. The extension loss is reduced (the stone black loss is 1 beat 4 of copper), and the processing quality is guaranteed.

3. Light weight and low cost.

In the manufacturing cost of a set of moulds, the machining time of the electrode, the EDM time and the electrode wear account for the total cost. Most of these are determined by the electrode material itself.Compared with copper, the machining speed and EDM speed of graphite are 3 to 5 times higher than that of copper. At the same time, the characteristics of minimal wear and the manufacture of the whole public graphite electrode can reduce the number of electrodes, which also reduces the electrode consumables and machining time. All these can greatly reduce the production cost of the mold.
