Precautions for use of graphite electrode

Precautions for use of graphite electrode

.Wet graphite electrodes should be dried before use.
.Remove the foam protective cap on the graphite electrode hole and check whether the threads in the electrode hole is complete.
.Clean the surface of graphite electrode and the threads in the hole with compressed air free of oil and water; Avoid cleaning with steel wire ball or metal brush abrasive cloth.
.Carefully screw the graphite electrode nipple into the electrode hole at one end of the graphite electrode (it is not recommended to directly install the nipple into the electrode which is removed from the furnace), and do not collide with the thread.
.Screw the electrode sling (graphite sling is recommended) into the electrode hole at the other end of the graphite electrode.
.When lifting the electrode, pad a soft object under one end of the electrode mounting nipple to prevent the ground from damaging the nipple; Use the hook to extend into the lifting ring of the spreader and lift it. The lifting electrode shall be stable to prevent the electrode from loosening from the B end or colliding with other fixed devices.
.Lift the standby electrode above the electrode to be connected, align it with the electrode hole and slowly fall down; Rotate the electrode to make the spiral hook rotate and lower together with the electrode. When the end faces of the two electrodes are 10-20 mm apart, clean the two end faces of the electrode and the exposed part of the graphite nipple with compressed air again. When fully lowering the electrode after, do not use excessive force, otherwise the threads of the electrode hole and graphite nipple will be damaged due to violent collision.
.Tighten the end face of the electrode with a Torque wrench until Until the end faces of the two electrodes are in close contact (The correct connection gap between electrode and nipple shall be less than 0.05mm).
