(1) Natural graphite electrode.

Natural graphite electrode is produced by using natural flake graphite as raw material.Coal tar pitch was added to natural graphite and mixed.Natural graphite electrodes can be prepared by kneading, molding, roasting and machining. The resistivity of natural graphite electrodes is relatively high, generally 15 ~ 20uΩ m, the biggest deficiency of natural graphite electrodes.The point is that the mechanical strength is low, and it is easy to break in the process of practical use. therefore, there are only a very small number of small natural graphite electrodes used in some special fields in our country.

(2) artificial graphite electrode.

Using petroleum coke or pitch coke as solid aggregate and coal tar pitch as binder, after kneading, molding, roasting, graphitization and mechanical addition, can be prepared artificial stone tool electrode (referred to as graphite electrode), artificial stone tool electrode belongs to dry high temperature resistant graphite conductive material, silver according to the selection of raw materials and production process.Different graphite electrodes with different physical and chemical properties can be prepared and divided into ordinary power graphite electrode, high power stone cover electrode and ultra-high power stone cover electrode.The carbon material enterprises which mainly produce graphite electrodes constitute the metallurgical carbon material industry. 

(3) Antioxidant coated graphite electrode.

The oxidation resistant coated graphite electrode is machined by "alternating spraying-melting method" or "solution impregnation method.An anti-hydrogenation coating is formed on the surface of the electrode to reduce the oxidation consumption of graphite electrode.Because the coating increases the price of the graphite electrode, and in the course of its use.There are some problems, therefore, the application of oxidation resistant coated graphite electrode has not been widely used in our country at present.
